Description

This wonderfully original piece exhibits vivid cobalt blue and reddish-orange peripheral toning that is more extensive on the obverse. The centers are essentially brilliant, and all areas are bathed in smooth, vibrant, softly frosted luster. A beautiful coin in all regards. Although available with patience at this grade level as a date and major type, any coin that is technical finer of this date becomes quite rare. When compared with the other known examples of the Overton-101 die variety this is tied with a couple of others as the third finest known and as such an important offering for variety specialists seeking high quality Condition Census pieces. A handsome and desirable coin for any number of collectors to consider that was recently sold by the Newman Foundation.
