Silver gray patina reveals subtle olive highlights as the coin rotates under a light. The definition is good for a mid grade early dollar. A very scarce die marriage with an estimated population of just 30 to 75 pieces in all grades. This VF-30 is evidently right in the middle of the grade range. Notably, Dave Bowers' roster of "notable specimens" listed in his Encyclopedia of United States Silver Dollars, 1794-1804, includes specimens grading as low as VF-30.
