Lustrous and boldly defined for the grade, splashes of vivid blue, orange and pink peripheral toning further enhance the visual appeal of this conditionally scarce Hawaii dollar. The 1883 Hawaiian dollar or AKAHI DALA (one dollar) was struck to the tune of 499,794 pieces, of which more than 460,000 examples have been "redeemed" (mainly melted in the early 1900s), leaving only a modest population for today's collectors with an interest in the coinage of Hawaii.
