Did you know Stack’s Bowers Galleries was featured on Bloomberg twice within five days?  First we were featured for the D. Brent Pogue Collection we are offering jointly with Sotheby’s. This amazing cabinet is highlighted by the “King of American Coins.” an 1804 silver dollar graded Proof-68, and the 1822 half eagle, the only one in private hands. Bloomberg then featured the Birch cent from the Henry P. Kendall Foundation Collection that Stack’s Bowers is offering in our March 2015 Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo next week. Check out the videos! Did you know Stack’s Bowers Galleries Internet-only sessions now allow for live bidding?  Beginning with this week’s Portland, ANA auction our Internet-only sessions will now be presented in the same format as our live Showcase auctions!  Each lot will be opened and closed in lot number order and allow for live bidding, using the same iBid Live platform as our live auctions.  For more details click here.

Did you know the Stack’s Bowers Galleries sale of the Stephen Winthrop Collection raised over $1.3 million for the Harvard ALS Program?  On Friday, February 6th, 2015 we presented Mr. Winthrop’s coin collection to a worldwide clientele and it was met with spirited bidding realizing nearly $1.26 million in hammer price.  Stack’s Bowers Galleries donated in excess of $75,000 from its fee together with the proceeds from additional auction items bringing the total to over $1.3 million.  The entire proceeds will be given to the Stephen VanR. Kendall Foundation, which will cross the auction block in our March 26-29 official auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo. Estimated value $600,000-$700,000.
