Stack’s Bowers Galleries Presents the Milt Tretiak Collection and Other Properties

Publicity for this, the newest Professional Numismatists Guild event, bills it as a “premier” show—which, no doubt, it will be. It is also, for sure, the premiere or first show of its kind. From October 9 to 11 there will be exciting auction activity, a bourse with some of the nation’s leading dealers, and a lot of fun and camaraderie.

From Rare Coin Review #52, June-September 1984

Over the years I have written numerous articles in various publications with my take on the “world’s greatest hobby” and encouraging readers to enjoy coins as much as I do. In fact, my weekly column in Coin World is titled “The Joys of Collecting.” In Rare Coin Review #52 from 1984, I found a typical QDB article, somewhat blandly titled “Some Thoughts on Coin Collecting.”

A Brief History of Confederate Currency Printers Leggett, Keatinge & Ball

By Brad Ciociola, Currency Specialist

During the American Civil War, the Confederate States of America issued their own circulating paper money for use in daily commerce. Notes were produced in various types from 1861 to 1864. Stack’s Sells the Dr. Conway A. Bolt Collection in 1966, Part 1

By Harvey G. Stack, Founder

During the later half of the 20th century Stack's was awarded many major collections for sale at Public Auction. One of the major collections sold in 1966 was the great collection formed by Dr. Conway A. Bolt. Dr. Bolt was devoted to numismatics and pursued his collection of coins enthusiastically. He celebrated his 50th anniversary in the hobby shortly before his collection was offered at public auction.
