One of the most important highlights in the El Dorado Collection Part II is the famed 1861-S Paquet Reverse double eagle, which the consignor considers his most important numismatic acquisition. Not only is this one of the more famous examples of this prized rarity, but it is also tied for the finest known of this issue at the AU-58 (PCGS) grade level. No Mint State examples apparently exist, not even within the recent Saddle Ridge hoard discovery of double eagles from roughly this period and later. PCGS has seen a total of three examples of this rarity that have earned this grade.
