1798 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. Large Eagle. BB-122, B-14b. Rarity-4. Bowers Die State VII. Pointed 9, Wide Date. VF-25 (NGC).
The obverse die is well on its way to ultimate failure in this state, which Q. David Bowers (1993) describes as ""rare."" The die crack (as struck) near the left border has advanced to such a point that it has obliterated portions of star 7 and the letter L in LIBERTY. Light silver-lavender iridescence to the obverse, the reverse of the coin is brilliant with a silver-white sheen.
Pedigree: Ex: Hesselgesser Collection.
