1829/7 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-102. Rarity-3. MS-64 (PCGS).
This overdate Bust Half Dollar is veiled in warm, even, smoky-gray patina. The color is a tad bolder on the reverse, although both sides are equally endowed with a bold strike and satiny luster. Free of detracting abrasions, with an impressive pedigree to boot. Tied for Condition Census #3 for the 1829/7 O-102 die variety.
Pedigree: Ex: George H. Earle Collection (Henry Chapman, 6/1912); John H. Clapp; Clapp estate (1942); Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr.; The Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collection (Bowers and Merena, 4/1997), lot 1848.
