1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-119. Rarity-1. Medium 0. MS-61 (PCGS). CAC.
Awash in even olive-gray patina, this handsome and original piece is uncommonly smooth at the assigned grade level. Indeed, we see no outwardly distracting abrasions, and the strike is overall bold and sufficiently sharp in an example of the 1830 O-119 variety (the crossbars on the shield are always blunt and nearly filled on examples of this die marriage). A strong candidate to represent the variety, date or type in a Mint State set.
The PCGS insert describes this coin as an example of the Small 0 Guide Book variety, probably because the Guide Book does not include a separate listing for the 1830 Medium 0 variety.
