1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny. Martin 4.57-Gc.13, W-13120. Rarity-3. MS-65 BN (PCGS).
Deep rose-tan with lively splashes of soft mint orange among the devices and legends. The obverse center is sharp and full though the reverse center is somewhat flat owing to the heavy copper flow to the obverse die. Numerous clash marks at points on the obverse, particularly above the king's effigy, raised die lump at foot of second A in GRATIA, repunching at I in HIBERNIA on the reverse, A of that word basically rests on the icon's head. Easily among the finest BN examples of the issue certified by PCGS. Undeniably choice throughout, and a visually pleasing piece that is more than worthy of strong bidding support.
