Description

1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny. Martin 4.93-Gc.21, W-Unlisted (W-13120 for similar type). Rarity-5. AU-53 (PCGS).

106.5 grains. Attractive dark brown throughout with no raised patina or corrosion. Clean surfaces from brief circulation, and the strike is sharp. Middle die state with light cracks and the bust tip connected to the rim, another crack through the top stop via the leaf in the crown, often seen on this die marriage. For the reverse a thin crack is seen through the left side of the legend and fine die rust is present within the fields.
