1829/7 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-1. AU-53 (PCGS).
Since the arrowshafts at the eagle's claws and the tailfeathers right of the reverse shield are absent or largely absent, we immediately recognize this coin to be a member of the O-101a die marriage, since the reverse die was lapped to remove evidence, one must suppose, of die clashing. There are flickers of a dusky-gold tint along the edges, as well as hints of satin luster. Stray abrasions are indeed seen, as one would suspect given the numeric rating, and one will detect moderate rubbing throughout.
