1841 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. MS-63 (PCGS).
Like most P-mint Seated Dollars from the 1840s, the 1841 is relatively obtainable in circulated grades but quite rare in Mint State. Obviously, most examples of this issue entered commercial channels, where they probably remained until withdrawn during the early-to-mid 1850s. The coin in this lot, however, never saw active circulation and has come down to us with bold striking detail and soft, satiny surfaces. Pleasingly toned, we note splashes of olive-orange peripheral color around the obverse that interrupt otherwise tannish-silver patina.
