Our upcoming Official World Paper Money auction at the ANA World’s Fair of Money in August is developing into an incredible offering, even during these times when our ability to meet in person or at conventions is severely limited. However, as we have continuously improved upon our website, mobile applications and software, we are able to provide more and more of our services online, while also continuing to reach out via telephone and other more traditional means as we are able. The ANA Sale is always among our most important sales, and we work diligently to ensure the sale is packed with great rarities and items that are not often seen outside of institutional collections. At the same time, we are pleased to present a wide variety of more accesssible items that appeal to those building collections at all levels.
This year, we have three significant Commonwealth rarities: a Saint Lucia 1920 5 Shillings in PMG Very Fine 20, a 1921 Leeward Islands 5 Shillings in a PMG Choice Fine 15 holder, and a 1921 10 Shillings in a PMG Very Fine 20 holder. All three notes showcase vignettes of George V at the center and are rare, in fact almost non-existent. While they are circulated, they all display all the pertinent detail a collector would require for the type.
The Leeward Island notes hail from the Dauer Collection which seasoned hobbyist will recognize as one of the finest collections ever, built over the years by the Dauer family. All three notes promise to be stand outs in even the most advanced collections of British Commonwealth. Many more collectors are seeking these notes than there are surviving examples. Each is estimated at $30,000-$50,000.
