The Stack’s Bowers Galleries monthly Collectors Choice Online Auctions have become a convenient resource for collectors to expand their cabinets with a name they have trusted for over 85 years. While most popular for their high-quality offerings of U.S. coins and currency, these sales also feature impressive selections of Numismatic Americana across nearly every category. This month’s October Collectors Choice Online Auction showcased a remarkable group of tokens and medals, highlighted by desirable restrikes of the most iconic issues in U.S. numismatics.

Lot 92005 offered an exceptional MS-65 RB (NGC) restrike of the Daniel Morgan at Cowpens medal in copper that ranks among the finest certified, which sold for a strong sum of $3,120. A post-1861 restrike of the iconic 1801 Thomas Jefferson Indian Peace medal was featured in lot 92009 and realized $690 with a grade of MS-63 BN (NGC). In lot 92029 was found a stunning Gem MS-65 (NGC) restrike of the 1809 Lincoln Wide Awakes political medalet in silver, a perpetual favorite for both Lincoln enthusiasts and Civil War scholars. This important rarity from the Ford Collection earned $2,640 in our October sale. Civil War enthusiasts were also excited by the copper Battle of Merrimac and Monitor medalet featured in lot 92052, which realized $1,080 with a grade of MS-64 BN (NGC).

Offered alongside these important medals was an impressive group of Civil War tokens, highlighted by a Rarity-9 McClellan/Wreath (Fuld-142/347f) graded MS-67 * (NGC) that sold for $2,880 in lot 92109.
