Capture of Reval Featured as This Week’s Coins in Motion Highlight

Over the past several weeks, I have been focused on the Pinnacle Collection offered in Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio’s Hong Kong sale. Most of the coins in the collection are items that the average collector may never see again. Led by the 1870 Japanese Pattern set in Lot 50043, this collection is anchored by three lots that could reach the $1 million mark. However, in this week’s Coins in Motion Highlight post, I spotlight another great rarity tucked away within the collection: the Peter I “Capture of Reval” Commemorative Gold Medal. This medal comes from a series that celebrated the achievements that took place under the reign of Peter I. Illustrated on this particular medal is the capture of Reval (now known as Tallinn and the capital city of Estonia) during the Great Northern War. Stack’s Bowers Galleries experts offer additional commentary in the description of lot 50101.

Coins in Motion seeks to enable collectors, bidders, and consignors to accurately appreciate how Stack’s Bowers Galleries coins look in hand. Ultra-high resolution animations depict how luster moves over the coin’s surfaces, while the rotating motion allows for any possible imperfections to be revealed. Stack’s Bowers Galleries is proud to have acquired Coins in Motion. To view our YouTube Playlist dedicated to Coins in Motion, click here. Videos are added weekly.
