About Uncirculated CC-1 $1 Continental Currency Note Featured in May CCO Auction

Our May U.S. Currency Collectors Choice Online Auction is available at StacksBowers.com for viewing and bidding. We are offering a nice array of Colonial and Continental Currency in this sale, including lot 91012, a CC-1 Continental Currency May 10, 1775 $1 in PMG About Uncirculated 50.

This issue represents the first Continental currency note and first United States government $1 bill. The emblem on the face shows a weighted bowl on an acanthus plant. The motto is DEPRESSARESURGIT, which Newman translates as "though crushed it recovers." The PMG population is one graded at this level with five finer.
