1804 Draped Bust Dime with Rainbow Toning Featured as the Coins In Motion Highlight

This week’s Coins in Motion highlight is an 1804 Draped Bust dime. Graded EF-45+, this coin is Variety JR-2, 14 stars on the reverse. The finest known of the variety is AU-58, which Stack’s Bowers Galleries last sold for $329,000 in May 2015. Price guide values show that an EF-45+ should sell for around $75,000. However, it has been a while since one last appeared on the market in any Extremely Fine grade.

Coins in Motion seeks to enable collectors, bidders, and consignors to accurately appreciate how Stack’s Bowers Galleries coins look in hand. Ultra-high resolution animations depict how luster moves over the coin’s surfaces, while the rotating motion allows for any possible imperfections to be revealed. Stack’s Bowers Galleries is proud to have acquired Coins in Motion. To view our YouTube Playlist dedicated to Coins in Motion, click here. Videos are added weekly.
