During
the early 1960s the rituals of working with Mr. Lilly and building his world
class collection continued. He would visit Stack's twice a year, once in the
fall and once in the spring on his annual trip to and from to Florida. I would
then visit him at his home at least twice a year to make deliveries of new
items for his collection. The relationship was always warm and friendly.

On April 3, at our Hong Kong paper money auction,
we offered a 1951 10,000 Yuan from the People’s Bank of China in Lot 70204. The
note was certified as an About Uncirculated 50 with serial number block
123. This 10,000 Yuan note, considered the most desirable of the
first series of Renminbi, was every bit worthy of the AU-50 grade.

The mighty Persian
Empire, fathered by Cyrus the Great, adversary of the Greek city-states, and
shattered by Alexander the Great, provides an exceptional gold Daric for our
upcoming May Collectors Choice Online auction. The royal dynasty that ruled the
empire was known as the Achaemenids, derived from their legendary founder
Achaemenes.
