This week we preview from the Stack’s Bowers & Ponterio August 2014 Hong Kong Showcase Auction a very rare pattern Half Dollar featuring the distinctive and ever popular Sun Yat-sen and Junk boat design. As the founding father of the Republic of China, Sun is still revered today despite the near-constant struggle and frequent exile he faced during his life.

The Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio world numismatic team is very enthusiastic for the upcoming ANA World’s Fair of Money to be held in Chicago this August. As part of our official auction for this event we will offer some of the ultimate Russian numismatic rarities. The three coins featured here represent a complete pattern set from an unimplemented experimental monetary revamp.

Over the many years we have served the numismatic hobby by auctioning coins, our catalogs have presented numismatic items in a scholarly manner that others have tried to duplicate but with little success. We have been fortunate to serve well over 100 well known museums, colleges, universities, historical societies, libraries and other well known depositories of historical items, primarily with their numismatic items.

Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio is honored to offer the wonderful collection of Swiss coins assembled by Ervin F. Bickley in our official ANA auction this August in Chicago. Mr. Bickley, over the course of several decades, hand selected these beautifully designed and preserved coins from dealer stock and from auction sales in the United States and in Europe. During this time, he also assembled a collection of U.S. coins and formed a close relationship with Harvey Stack.
