In Part 1 of this story, I discussed the various printed information sources that influenced my nearly 70 years as a professional numismatist. As the hobby grew in the years from about 1980 to the present, the quantity of printed numismatic material grew. As more people became interested in coin collecting several new publications became available such as Coins Magazine, the Coin Dealer Newsletter, and many more.

One of the rarities to be featured in our upcoming August Hong Kong auction will be an incredibly rare 1902-dated One Piastre note from the Canton Shameen branch on the Bank of Indo China. Printed by A. Bramtot et G Duval FEC and the current plate note in Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, Volume II (Pick reference).

I take up my tour through A Guide Book of United States Coins with French New World issues on page 51. This is a very extensive series produced in France and well studied in print. The standard reference is by Robert A. Vlack, An Illustrated Catalog of the French Billon Coinage in the Americas, published by the Colonial Coin Collectors Club in 2004.
