The Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo this November will feature a highly desirable Norway 1000 Kroner graded Very Fine 25 by PMG.  It’s not often that a Norwegian note garners as much attention as this example. Apart from being an extremely rare high denomination and a century old, this note is also the only one known at PMG. It is certainly one of the most exciting items featured in our November Baltimore auction.

The motifs on the face feature two historical figures:  Norwegian constitutional father Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie, who was the assembly’s writer, and the revered Admiral Peter Wessel Tordenskiold. On the back, the majestic Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim is pictured. Blue fibers can be seen throughout the entire note. It’s magnificent that a note of this size has managed to survive over a century, through war and other hardships, without any major rips, tears, or pinholes.

The note carries an estimate of $10,000 to $15,000. The Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo will take place November 5-8, 2015, in Baltimore, Maryland.
