Welcome to Rarities Night 2014! What a great way and what a great day to start our series of auctions for the American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money. The eyes of the numismatic world will join you as you contemplate our Rarities Night presentation, which this year offers not one but three catalogs.

Fort Worth, Texas, dealer B. Max Mehl had two favorite rarities: the 1913 Liberty Head nickel, which was the focal point of millions of dollars’ worth of advertising for his Star Rare Coin Encyclopedia, and the 1804 silver dollar, the latter called the “King of American Coins.”

Did you know that Stack’s Bowers Galleries will be featuring the 1804 silver dollar from the Garrett Collection in our Official Auction of the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money?  This Class III, BB-306 dollar is graded Proof-55 by NGC and will be on display at Table 502 at this week’s Long Beach Coin Expo.
