We continue our recap of the January New York International Auction hosted by Stack’s Bowers Galleries by featuring another stellar performance, in this case a French gold uniface pattern essai 5 Franc depicting Napoleon III. This piece brought an astounding $24,675.00, well beyond the estimate range of $5,000 to $7,000.

We continue our recap of the January New York International Auction hosted by Stack’s Bowers by revisiting one of the early highlights featured on this blog. The glorious Spur-Ryal of James I brought strong results at the auction podium, realizing $80,000 and exceeding our high estimate by $10,000. The final results reaffirm the desirable nature of this piece, and we congratulate the collector who persevered in acquiring it.

Now that the dust has settled on the January New York International Numismatic Convention and the Official Auction hosted by Stack’s Bowers, we’d like to highlight an incredible piece that realized much more than we anticipated. The lot is a fabulous Pattern Crown produced by Great Britain in 1926 that realized an astounding $32,900! This exceeded our low estimate by a multiple of two.
