The largest world paper money show held during the year in the United States is coming up June 18 to 21, and dealers are getting ready to travel to the “Home of the Blues.” The venue is the Cook Convention Center in Memphis. As we left the recent Long Beach Expo the parting expression among currency dealers was, “See you in Memphis.” The show is always exciting with many dealers holding back fresh material for this event.

The Stack’s Bowers Galleries currency staff will be attending the Memphis International Paper Money Show at the Cook Convention Center, June 12-15. Peter Treglia, Matt Quinn, and Brad Ciociola will be on hand to accept consignments for the 2015 ANA World’s Fair of Money Auction, as well as buy and sell U.S. and World currency.

The Danish West Indies banknotes of the 1905 Series produced by Bradbury Wilkinson are among the most avidly collected worldwide banknotes. The notes are all scarce to rare with higher denominations in particular being exceptionally rare. Our sources indicate that there are just three known issued and uncancelled 100 Franc notes.

The recent Stack’s Bowers Galleries April 2015 Hong Kong auction was a great success from coins to paper money. Included in the paper money only catalog was an important selection of high denomination notes from Hong Kong, with the most important being a Choice About Uncirculated 1935 $50 note on the Mercantile Bank of India Limited.

Top population third party graded Confederate type notes were a hit in our recent Stack's Bowers March Baltimore Currency auction with new auction records set for several different Confederate types, including $1,410 for a T-69 1864 $5 graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ by PMG. This example was tied for finest graded by PMG. Featured on the T-69 is the subject of our latest edition of Better Know Your Notes – C.G. Memminger.

The Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Spring Expo in Baltimore is now posted online and open for bidding. At nearly 2,900 lots, this is our largest currency auction to date!
