As we prepare for the holidays, we are also looking forward to our next sale -- the first of 2016. In our January 9, 2016, NYINC sale we will present a spectacular 100 Pound Egyptian note. This note is just one of the many stunning Egyptian notes from the National Bank of Egypt. However, the color and ornate design of this note make it worth singling out.

On December 8, 2015, during Session C of our December Hong Kong Auction we will offer a unique 1863 $10 Hong Kong Branch Note from the Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China. Incorporated by James Wilson under Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1853, the bank redefined the banking system in the Far East.

Lot 70001 of our upcoming December 8-9 Hong Kong Auction also happens to be one of our most exciting notes of the sale. This Yuan Dynasty note predates the Ming Dynasty by almost 100 years! It is a note that promises to be the focal point in any collection it enters.

On behalf of Stack’s Bowers Galleries, welcome to the November 2015 Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo. We encourage you to participate in our final sale of the year, which consists of just over 800 lots of American currency. The strongest area of this session is undoubtedly large size federally issued currency, featuring many great rarities. Also noteworthy are some outstanding National Bank Notes.

This November in Baltimore at our official world paper money auction at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo, we are featuring a special Andorra note from the Spanish Civil War. This bright change note with solid margins is graded a spectacular 66 EPQ by PMG, and is one of only nine examples known to that grading service.

A newly discovered 109-year-old Confederate Currency album could bring more than $60,000 in the Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Winter Expo this November in Baltimore, Maryland. The album, titled “The Currency of the Confederate States,” was assembled by early Confederate Currency researcher and author Rafael Prosper Thian. Thian worked for decades in the Adjutant General’s Office of the United States Army from the middle years of the Civil War until his death in 1911.
