"Hi, I am Ben Orooji, Senior Numismatist here at Stack's Bowers Galleries, and I wanted to show you one of the highlights of our November Baltimore Sale: Lot 7197 of the E. Horatio Morgan Collection of Half Dollars, the 1838-O Half Dollar. It is one of the most famous rarities in all of numismatics. These were actually struck in 1839 in two separate batches: the first one on the dollar press that the Coiner Rufus Tyler was able to modify, and the second batch on the half dollar press that they were intended for. There are 9 known examples today. And this particular example is pedigreed back to Colonel E.H.R. Green who once owned and amazing six examples of this rarity. From there it passed on to many other famous collections. It is just a simply visually stunning example with sharping defined features, highly reflective surfaces, and pretty toning of green-orange, ice blue, and copper-rose. I'm going to flip it on the reverse here real quick so you can take a look. And again we just see beautiful, beautiful surfaces, clearly struck especially. And this is certified by PCGS as a Branch Mint Proof 63 and it is approved by CAC. Again this is Lot 7197 in our November Baltimore Sale."
