Over $14.7 million in U.S. coins, currency, and Americana was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in their official auction for the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Winter Expo. This was the first such event held since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, with lot viewing offered in-person at the Baltimore Convention Center and the auction itself hosted remotely from Griffin Studios in the firm's Costa Mesa, California headquarters. With strong bidding activity and dozens of record prices realized across all categories, Stack's Bowers Galleries is proud to celebrate this successful final Showcase Auction of their 2021 season.

The Stack's Bowers Galleries World and Ancient Coins department is delighted to announce that their sales for 2021 have exceeded $100,000,000, far surpassing the total for any previous year. This milestone signals an uptick in market growth and demonstrates the universal trust that both sellers and buyers place in the Stack's Bowers Galleries name. In addition, many industry-wide records were set. In the April 2021 Hong Kong Auction, an 1825 pattern Russian Ruble established the record for the most expensive non-U.S. coin sold by an American auction house at $2,640,000.

As the world shifts to a more digitized environment, numismatic items that had previously been reserved for live sales at major auctions are crossing the block at internet exclusive events. The Stack's Bowers Galleries December 2021 Hong Kong sale set the record for the largest online-exclusive numismatic auction, realizing more than $10 million in total sales. (All prices include the buyer's fee.)
