Longstanding rare coin auction house Stack's Bowers & Ponterio, whose experts have presented some of the most prestigious, highest-grossing sales in the industry's history, is excited to feature the Pinnacle Collection as part of the firm's semiannual Hong Kong auction. This incredible collection features numerous rarities from the non-U.S. sphere of numismatics, many of which emanate from Japan. One such rarity, however, hails from a once-massive empire to Japan's west—the mighty tsardom of Russia. Among Russia's most famous coins, the fabled pattern ruble of Constantine possesses a background as fascinating as its rarity and value.

The rare coin market remains incredibly robust, with Chinese numismatics among the clear trend-setters. Within this environment of intense interest, venerable auction house Stack's Bowers and Ponterio has assembled their largest—and sure-to-be their most valuable—Hong Kong auction to date, offering over 5,000 lots of coins, medals, tokens, and currency, with higher end estimates surpassing $16.5 million.

The April Hong Kong auction being presented by legendary rare coin firm Stack's Bowers and Ponterio features countless highlights from the Pinnacle Collection, with a majestic Year 3 (1870) Pattern Set from Japan standing as quite possibly the most impressive. Containing eight denominations ranging from the gold 10 Yen all the way down to the copper-nickel 1/20 Yen, the quality of the set is exemplified by each piece's Gem or Superb Gem designation as well as by the way the surfaces shimmer and glisten when rotated in the light.

Stack's Bowers Galleries is proud to announce their March 2021 Las Vegas Auction, the firm's first Showcase event for Americana and United States coins and paper money of the year. The primary highlight of this auction is the magnificent 1822 Capped Head Left half eagle from the D. Brent Pogue Collection. It is the only specimen in private hands and serves as a linchpin to a complete set of United States coins. Accompanying this piece is the finest known 1797 Draped Bust half dollar, also with provenance to the Virgil Brand and D. Brent Pogue collections. These two pieces will be sold in the firm's Rarities Night session held on the evening of Thursday, March 25.
