Stack’s Bowers Galleries is pleased to present the Rubin Family Collection as part of our Official Auction in conjunction with the ANA World’s Fair of Money to be held in Rosemont, Illinois in August of this year. This small collection of gold, silver and copper coins includes the finest of three known Proof 1859 quarter eagles with the New Reverse hub style. The Rubin Collection example is graded Proof-65 Deep Cameo by PCGS, and is pedigreed to the famous and historic Amon G. Carter, Jr. Collection. Aside from being the finest New Reverse 1859 Proof quarter eagle, it is arguably the second or third finest certified quarter eagle of the date, the finest being the Harry Bass coin that is graded by PCGS as a Proof-66.
