Ben Orooji
Ben Orooji has been an ardent collector for over 15 years. He was a vest pocket dealer for six years before joining Stack’s Bowers Galleries in early 2013 as a numismatist and cataloger. Ben specializes in the Capped Bust, Reeded Edge half dollars of 1836-1839 and is an expert with all federal U.S. coins. His cataloging and research have been instrumental to our offering of countless numismatic rarities in our award winning catalogs. He is also a frequent contributor to our weekly U.S. coin blogs. While primarily a U.S. coin collector, Ben maintains an active and diverse collection including coinage of the Parthian and Sasanian empires, medals and tokens of U.S. and international exhibitions, coin jewelry and even a comprehensive collection of play money.
Ben is a graduate of the University of Maine with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Behavioral Forensics. After graduating from the University of Maine he worked in a maximum-security prison within the Florida Department of Corrections. The ethical care and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals remains a cause about which he is passionate to this day. Ben and his wife, Tina, have been married for 10 years and have a daughter, Alyssa. He is first and foremost a family man and enjoys spending time with them and watching his daughter grow.
