Stack's Bowers > Larry Stendebach
Larry Stendebach
Larry
spent the early part of his life in Texas, later moving to the Saint Louis,
Missouri area, where he now resides. A lifelong coin collector, Larry
attributes his passion for numismatics to his parents, who introduced him to
the hobby at an early age by encouraging collecting wheat cents from
circulation and saving up to buy the occasional Morgan dollar from the local
coin shop. Larry’s collection is always changing but he has a particular
fondness for high end United State type coins and the Spanish colonial coinage
of Mexico.
A maker / engineer by nature, it was not long
before Larry looked to combine his loves of technology and numismatics,
creating innovations including Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ patent pending
technology: Coins in Motion. Coins in Motion creates high resolution coin
animations that accurately capture the in-hand visual appeal of rare coins and
other numismatic treasures.
Larry spends much of his free time cultivating
the next generation of coin collectors, including by creating and producing
content for online locations where the younger generations gather – YouTube,
Reddit, Instagram, etc. He has been on the moderation team for Reddit.com/r/coins
for the better part of a decade, a community that has seen a nearly 700% growth
in membership (to over 71,000 by the end of 2020). These are almost exclusively
younger collectors. Larry also maintains an active numismatic YouTube channel
with over 100 videos.
