DESCRIPTION Rare Superb Red Matte Proof 1914 Lincoln CentJust 1 Finer at CAC1914 Lincoln Cent. Proof-67 RD (PCGS). CAC.
The beautiful peach patina of this Superb Proof is accented by flashes of sunshine-yellow and powder blue irridescence that is most intense on the obverse. Sharply defined with excellent detail and squared rims throughout. The field remain virtually flawless and boast a prize matte texture across both sides. Visually stunning and technically pristine, just 3 rank finer at PCGS and only a single piece sits higher at CAC.
After only the 1909 V.D.B., 1915 and 1916, the 1914 is the rarest Proof small cent issue of the 1909 to 1916 era. From an original mintage of 1,365 pieces, only about 100 are thought to survive at the Gem Red level. Of these pieces, most are in grades of Proof-65 and Proof-66. At Proof-67 RD, this piece is truly one of the most desirable, and approval from CAC confirms the superior quality among this elite group. An ideal registry set candidate.PCGS# 3320
