Our December Hong Kong CCO for World Paper Money is available at StacksBowers.com for viewing and bidding. In this sale we are pleased to offer lot 50251, a P-A7b 1858 50,000 Cash note from the China Empire, graded Extremely Fine 40 by PMG. (S/M#T6-54). No. 27138.

Extremely Fine 40 is quite a desirable grade for this very popular high denomination vertical format note. It is an attractive example displaying a bold blue primary design with facing dragons at top guarding the Pearl of Wisdom. Rough seas are seen below, with characters in the center. The three stamps at center are in red/orange ink. Out of five notes graded for the variety by PMG, this note sits at the top of the population report at the time of cataloging. PMG comments "Spindle Hole at Issue." PMG Pop 1/None Finer.
